Microsoft's New Taiwan Hardware Innovation Center to Target Digital Home Devices

Microsoft senior vice president Zhang Ya-qin revealed on July 28 the software company's plans to set up a Hardware Innovation Center in Taiwan, according to Chinese-language Apple Daily. Microsoft's Taiwan Hardware Innovation Center is expected to enter collaboration with Taiwanese PC and smart handheld device makers, focusing on the development of digital home devices, media center PCs, and smart and multimedia mobile devices. This new hardware R&D facility will be Microsoft's third R&D center in Taiwan, after the Microsoft Technology Center set up in 2003 and the Microsoft Innovation Center established in June 2008.
